should have asked for a wheelchair

Extremely sore and stiff all over but still alive and that's what's important.

Our car is surprisingly not totalled, but that's a Volvo for you, a complete tank. The front of the other car, however is apparently totally gone.

My brother was making a left turn, the light on the intersection was yellow and there was a car coming and he thought the other car would slow down but he actually ended up speeding up. And well, you guys can figure out what happened after that.

It happened really fast, I heard the popping sound in my ear and the airbags did their work. I climbed out through the driver's seat because the passenger side was completely demolished. The last time we had a major car accident was when I was 10 and I completely lost it back then but this time I was completely calm. After making sure my brother was okay the first thing I thought in my head was "Oh crap my laptop's in the back". There were alot of pedestrians around and they all tried to get me to sit down until the ambulance got there but I was still concerned with my laptop. My brother went to get it with my purse and he called my mom. The on-lookers called 911 for us and they arrived pretty quickly. The authorities arrived and I was whisked away to the hospital in an ambulance after answering some basic questions to make sure I still knew who and where I was. When I got into the ambulance I started tearing up a little but was still generally calm. My brother stayed behind to wait for my mom and give the cops a statement.

The paramedic told me they'd probably do a couple of X-Rays to make sure everything was okay and the first thing I thought of was "Hey! That's Cindy's job". I distract myself in odd ways. When we got to the hospital the paramedic asked me if I needed a wheelchair but I could walk okay so I declined. I've never been in a wheelchair before getting pushed around. Should have said yes.

Then what followed was alot of waiting and waiting. I was in the "Fast Track" waiting area and still waited for an hour and a half. All this time I was thinking about how hungry I was and that I really needed to go to the bathroom, that and how safe it was to leave someone alone for so long who had just been in a car accident. I could have been an emotional wreck.

Finally they called me in and I was poked for 5 minutes and then waited for another half an hour. I tried to call my brother and mom to tell them where in the hospital I was but couldn't get through so I was worried they wouldn't know where I was. But they found my mom and she came in while I was waiting for the Doctor. She was ready to give someone the smackdown because we were waiting for so long. The doctor came in, poked me for another 5 minutes and gave me a sheet about Whiplash and told me I could go home. Thanks, Credit Valley.

So I'm completely sore now and I was assured by everyone that that would happen. My brother's all right too and the other driver was fine as well although his car is completely gone. He was driving a Honda and my dad said that was probably why it didn't make it. Our Volvo's okay, that good ol' tank. We were thinking about switching it just because it was getting old but dang, can't deny how safe it is.

We got a rental car but I have no idea what kind it is. It's white and it looks pretty nice. I asked my brother what kind it was and he said "Motorola?" to which I had to remind him that was a cell phone.

In happier news, I'm taking the day off work and might not go back for the rest of the week. Which might not be a good idea since this week is my last week and I'm not done tying up loose ends yet.

ANYWAYS

Went to see Little Miss Sunshine with the lovely ladies Eleasa and Tina on Sunday and I highly recommend it. It is a sweet mix of humour, drama, absurdity topped off with superb acting. Afterwards we were sucked in by the novelty of a '50s diner and went to Johnny Rocket's to split some shakes and fries. The waiter that was serving us gave us a plate with a ketchup smiley. We attempted to take a picture with it but I ended up smearing it when I held it up. Oops. We attempted to figure out the juke box for a nickel but we are clearly inept with '50s paraphernalia because we kept on dropping&spilling&nudging. But you will forget all of your troubles when you try their Oreo milkshake. And remember them again when you get the bill for said Oreo milkshake.

eeek

Ibuprophen helps with muscle pain and swelling. I had a wreck in 2003 and got very sore a few days later. Ibuprophen knocked that out.

The first night in the deliriousness of lack of sleep, I vowed to never ride in a car again. Of course I have a taste for melodrama sometimes.

Oh yes! It is indeed a tank, unfortunately it also meant that just because my buses were cancelled during snow days it doesn't mean I cannot attend school ;P

Eeeep. Had I known I would've tried to come visit you sooner (unless your mom is forbidding that...I dunno?). As it is, we must do something sometime soon, if you're feeling less sore. When're you going to Chicago? We must still head off to Ikea-land.

Wheelchair, not amazing, but it's fun to be lazy.

*anti-hugs*

It's okay, I enjoy comments from you no matter how repetitive :P

I would love a visit Sunday!
And yes, I have a final date for the Chicago visit, we'll be leaving Wednesday and probably returning Saturday. I have a doctor's appointment in the afternoon on Tuesday so that leaves....Saturday, Sunday and Monday :P
